Pastor Joe

Pastor Joe comes to us from Riverside, California, and is the owner and general manager of CrossFit Key Largo. Deeply committed to wholeness in every area of life — spirit, soul, and body — Joe has a passion for helping people thrive from the inside out. He's your go-to for health, growth, and living fully alive in Christ.

Alexis

Alexis is a true Keys girl, a proud graduate of Coral Shores High School and a Bachelor of Science graduate from Everglades University in Nutrition and Holistic Health. She works alongside her husband in building Bluewater in the Keys, and her heart shines in the way she makes every single person who walks through the door feel genuinely welcomed and at home.

What we believe

We believe the Bible is the inspired and authoritative Word of God — the foundation for everything we believe and how we live. We believe in one God, eternally present in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, who lived a sinless life, gave Himself on the cross for our sins, and rose again — conquering death and offering new life to all who would receive it. Through repentance and faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we believe every person can experience genuine forgiveness and transformation.

We practice water baptism as an outward expression of inward faith, and we believe the Holy Spirit actively empowers believers with spiritual gifts to fulfill God's purpose in their lives. We believe Jesus still heals and restores today, just as He always has.

We hold to the promise that Christ will return, that there will be a resurrection of both the saved and the lost, and that God will have the final word — bringing justice, wholeness, and restoration to all things. We honor marriage as a sacred covenant between one man and one woman, and we seek to live in a way that reflects the fullness of who God is: truth, grace, and love held together.

The People Behind Bluewater

Darin and Jennifer bring deep spiritual roots and a wholehearted commitment to Jesus' mission. Natives of Texas and now firmly planted in the Upper Keys, Darin serves our church family in worship leadership while Jennifer shares her gifts in teaching and personal ministry.

Outside of Bluewater, Darin works with AT&T, and Jennifer serves as a healthcare professional with Baptist Health of South Florida.

Darin & Jennifer Greenfield

Jeff and Christi are seasoned leaders and trusted spiritual guides within our church family. Jeff's background in marketing, finance, and leadership brings wisdom and a steady foundation to his role as a trusted advisor.

Christi's heart for prayer and spiritual leadership runs deep — most notably through her oversight of the Florida Keys House of Prayer — and her passion for developing devoted, love-driven disciples is a tremendous gift to everything we're building at Bluewater.

Jeff & Christi Dupre

Gerald and Jessica made their way to Bluewater from West Virginia about a year and a half ago, bringing with them a genuine love for Jesus and a real passion for community. Gerald serves on the board and puts his tech skills to work enhancing our worship experience.

Jessica pours her heart into leading our Children's Ministry, creating a warm and nurturing space where kids feel safe and loved. Their faith is contagious, and we're so glad they're here.

Phil & Sherry Underwood
Founders & Pastors Emeritus

Phil and Sherry Underwood founded Bluewater in the Keys and spent a decade rooted in Islamorada, building not just a church but a genuine presence in the community. During their time in the Keys, Phil served in several meaningful civic roles — including as Chairperson of the Monroe County COAD, a twice-elected board member of the Islamorada Chamber of Commerce, President of the Upper Keys Ministerial Alliance, and a member of the Monroe County Long Term Recovery Group following Hurricane Irma. He is also a graduate and board member of Leadership Monroe County.

Phil and Sherry are alumni of Lee University, and Phil has pursued extensive theological study at Rhema Bible College and Reformed Theological Seminary. Together, they are parents to five adult children and grandparents to six.

Now based in Atlanta, Georgia, Phil and Sherry continue to serve as Pastors Emeritus of Bluewater, maintaining a close and cherished mentoring relationship with our congregation. Their newest work, Epic Grace Ministries, carries their passion for Jesus' mission to leaders around the world — helping people and communities move, as Phil often says, from maintenance to mission.

Bluewater would not exist without them, and their fingerprints are on everything we are.
